We still have space for a few more volunteers for our next Forgotten Women Friday collaborative research day on 17 October. We will be looking at women who were working in the linen industry in Ulster at the time of the 1901 Census. Specifically, we are going to research women between twenty-six and thirty-six years of age working in the spinning mills, weaving factories, linen manufacturers and hemstitching factories of the linen trade in Counties Armagh and Down, in what has been Northern Ireland, since 1921. Please don't be deterred if you are not used to working with Northern Irish records, as help is on hand and you will be sent a list of resources that may help.
If you haven't been one of our volunteers before, there is more information about how these days work here. We also have background information about the linen industry here.
If you would like to take part please get in touch.
