Our 500th Story is Published!

The A Few Forgotten Women team is excited to announce the publication of our 500th story! Since our website went live, in December 2022, 500 stories have been published. Some of these, including our 500th, commemorate more than one woman, who might otherwise have been forgotten and there are still more women mentioned briefly in our shorter stories files. We could never have achieved this without the contributions of our wonderful volunteers and we are very grateful to them all.

Our 500th story is a lovely one. It is also a little unusual in that the women concerned were born in the eighteenth century. Our volunteer, Fiona, has written a vivid account of the lives of Mary Birkhead née Clark from Whitehaven and her daughters Mary and Barbara, all of whom worked for the post office.
